Jim & Adele Chico of Morgan Hill, CA., are the Round Dance Instructors for Rhythm Rounds, a Morgan Hill, CA based round dance club. Though Jim & Adele are not currently Roundalab members, they still choreograph new dances from time to time and enter their dances for Round of the Quarter selection. When in session Rhythm Rounds covers Round Dance Phases 3 through 5.
Round dancing is a form of ballroom dancing where a round dance "Cuer" gives vocal cues indicating which steps to perform. The dance routines are generally pre-choreographed and remain the same for a given dance on a world-wide basis. Jim & Adele, like many other instructors, have choreographed a number of round dance routines. The standards for rhythms and figures used by these routines are set by a world-wide organization, ROUNDALAB, which meets once a year to formalize and adopt new figures and rhythms as they are conceived and developed.
Roundalab also administers the Round of the Quarter (ROQ) committee, which is a group of round dance leaders who vote for the best dance, in their view, for a given level at a given time sent in by numerous round dance choreographers around the world.
Below are Jim and Adele's dancers that were selected Roundalab Round of the Quarter or runner-up:
They also wrote the regional favorites Alibis, Beyond The Sea, Key Largo Bolero, and Smoke Slow Two Step.
There are also many state and local organizations that select Round of the Month (ROM) dances for their member clubs, and Jim and Adele have had quite a number of their dances selected as ROM for these organizations around the country, and a few from even outside the country.
